dakota fanning on cover of marie claire magazine…

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

child star dakota fanning is on the cover of marie claire magazine this august.

dakota is not planning on getting some online degrees soon but here is what she shared with the magazine:

“when you start out young, people get really attached to who you are at six years old. i hope that ‘the runaways’ was kind of a moment to be like, ‘you know, i’m not that young little girl anymore, but i’m still not all grown up, either. as you get older, there’s so much more that you can do in films… as you approach 18, a whole new world opens up to you as an actor, and i really look forward to that…”

sheryl crowe on cover of redbook magazine…

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

singer sheryl crowe is on cover of redbook magazine this august.

sheryl is not doing any diet supplement reviews, rather, she opened up about her second adopted son levi james and her battle against cancer.

sheryl on adopting new son levi james: “it’s been in the works for a while. i was hoping to adopt a child when wyatt was 2; a lot of the adoptions fell through. but things always work out perfectly. they just do. generally, when you let go of your vision of how something is supposed to be, the universe hands you exactly what you need.”

on motherhood: “i always knew i wanted to be a mom; it was just a matter of when. i’d just been through a pretty paiiful breakup where there were kids involved, and I’d also been through breast cancer treatment. after that, i felt an acute sense of urgency about how i wanted my life to feel. since i wasn’t married, my idea of what the picture was supposed to look like no longer served any great purpose. so i started doing an adoption ‘home study,’ which means you fill out the paperwork, get certified in infant cpr. the idea was, if the opportunity came, I  would be ready.”

on other celebrity moms: “i’ve got great mommy friends. here in nashville, it’s kim williams-paisley [the actress and wife of country singer brad paisley], nicole kidman, and another friend, tracie hamilton. they’ve been a wonderful resource for me. we get together at each other’s homes, make dinner, and have girls’ nights in. or we’ll go out for dinner and a drink–though we’re mommies, so we don’t let it all hang out. we’ve had good conversations about vaccinations, child-rearing, the ‘terrible twos’! luckily, wyatt’s past the “terrible twos” now, which is great.”

on her new album, 100 miles from memphis: “i’m really excited about the new record. it’s much more carefree and not nearly as sociopolitical as ones i’ve done in the past. there are songs dedicated to peace and a higher ideal, but for the most part, it’s inspired by music i loved growing up, like al green, aretha, and marvin gaye.”

on her battle against breast dancer: “it changed me in almost every way. it rebooted my sense of what was important. i learned to take care of myself emotionally, putting myself first and allowing other people to take care of me as well. it’s great to be a strong woman, but when you’re never allowing your needs to be met, or even heard, it catches up to you.”

on what she looks for in a partner: “i’m not looking [for a partner]. if i meet somebody i adore and who adores me, and wants to help me raise my kids, great.”

vanessa paradis on cover of uk’s marie claire magazine…

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

vanessa paradis is on the cover of uk’s marie claire magazine this august.

this is what vanessa shared with the mag. sorry but there are no anti wrinkle eye cream secrets!

do you ever ask johnny’s advice about a script?
when it comes to planning, yes. otherwise, very rarely. in fact, we don’t really speak a lot about work when we’re together. we just try to organise ourselves so we can spend as much time as possible together.

can i ask you about johnny depp? how do you keep the passion alive when you’ve been with the same man for 12 years?
first of all, you have to be lucky enough to find the right person. next, the fact that we’re not together every day plays a big part in keeping our relationship stable. and then we also have a lot of respect and admiration for each other. we understand that, if we want our relationship to continue, we must give each other space, allow each other to go off on our own, and trust each other.

not everyone is lucky enough to be given space and trust.
you’re really lucky if you find someone you can trust when you spend time apart. but it’s more complicated than that. keeping love alive should be like the way you live your life: you don’t eat the same meal every day, you don’t read the same book, you don’t listen to the same cd. when you are a couple, you need to go off alone and discover things for yourself.

what do you most admire about johnny?
i could make an endless list of all the things i admire about him, but above all I admire his immense loyalty. i love watching him when he’s thoughtful or involved in something. i love observing him when he is talking to people. i love seeing how he deals with situations… i could go on and on, tell you i admire him as an actor, as a father and as the man he is for me. but more than anything, i admire him as a person. not only when he is talking to me or his mother, but as a person in the world, in all kinds of situations. i think he is magnificent. truly magnificent.

vanessa paradis on working with johnny depp and kids
do you ever think you’ll make a film together?
a few years ago we were both going to be on the set of terry gilliam’s don quixote film but shooting stopped. frankly, the thought of filming with him would scare me to death. it’s not that i don’t want to, but i would be frightened that i wouldn’t be up to his standard because he’s so talented. and I don’t know if I would be able to lie in front of him.

you didn’t have a normal adolescence. if one of your children wanted to follow in your footsteps, how would you react?
to sing and be in the public eye at 14 years old is not something everyone experiences. but do i now wish for the same thing for my children? i don’t know – i would need to think about it for a long time before i could give you an answer.
